How to prep for your graduation portraits

Graduation season is very exciting! It’s a milestone that should always be celebrated. I want to share my top four tips to prep for your graduation portraits!

1. Sleep – Get a good night’s sleep
2. Regalia – Hang your attire (especially your regalia) for at least a week so it releases the wrinkles. If you need to, very lightly steam it but be careful because some gowns will shrink!
3. Hair and make up – I always recommend a professional hair and make up artists for your session! Otherwise, make sure you do a trial run at least to weeks prior to your session so you have time to modify your look as needed!
4.  Shoes – DC has lots of beautiful monuments, but they do require a walk to get there. I recommend bringing comfortable shoes for the walk and your dress shoes for each portion of your session. That way (especially if you’re wearing heels or new shoes) your feet won’t hurt throughout the session.
