How to prep for your headshot session

We’re approaching mid-year, which means it’s time to review those headshots and get new ones taken. I’ve previously spoken about why headshots are important for your career, for your organization, and also posted some tips on what to wear. Today, I’m going to give you tips on how to prep for your headshot session.

1. 1. Hydrate the night before. I’m all about happy hour…but the day before your session is not the day to close down the bar. Make sure you’re drinking lots of water the day before your session.
   2. Get a good night’s sleep. Not only will you feel better on a full night’s rest, you can prevent the bags under your eyes. It will also help your mood if your session is an early one.
   3. Do not try new products. Avoid trying new products within 48 hours of your session (make up, hair/face creams, etc.). You never know how your skin or hair will react to new products, so make sure whatever you use, you’ve used/tested at least two weeks before your session.
   4. Wear your clothes before the session. Anytime I don’t feel confident, it’s usually because I’m wearing something I’m not comfortable in. Wear the clothes you’ll wear to your session to work or an event before wearing it to your session. This will also help you figure out the kinks of the outfit.
