Behind the Camera

April has (almost) come and gone and lots of things happened! Here’s a recap of this month’s iPhone photos that you didn’t see on social media:

At the end of last month, I mentioned that my cousin Mauricio was in town! In addition to DC, we visited NY!!

We dined at April Bloomfield’s The Breslin and it was AMAZING! (Ok you did see this on social media BUT, not this photo :-))

The trip also gave me a perfect excuse to use my Sole Society Weekender bag (love!) and my newly purchased bag-all bags! For someone like me, who often forgets to pack the obvious stuff like  PJs and socks when traveling abroad (don’t ask), this helps a LOT!

Upon our return, and Mauricio’s return to Peru,  I was back to shooting! I photographed Justin Hampton from Poste this month! My lovely roommate and best friend, Eva, has been coming along to the Beverage Journal shoots to assist!! I like all her questions about the flash and watching her learn about photography!

On a nearly Sunday morning, I went to vote for the Peruvian presidential elections!!! Every Peruvian citizen is required to vote (you can null/blank vote, and yes it’s always on a Sunday), so I was really excited to get my official voting sticker that goes on the back of my ID card! This was actually my first time voting! While a citizen by birth, I never activated my citizenship nor renewed my passport (I used my American passport when visiting). But recently, I came to terms that I no longer wanted to be a “tourist” in my own country, so I renewed my Peruvian passport and got an ID card and am now a participating citizen! April was the first round of voting so I go again in June! Whew! Lots of voting this year for both the US and Peru!

In the middle of April, my best friend Holly had her baby!!!! Inas and I (our college trio) went to visit her the day baby H was born!! I also took her newborn photos and those are coming next week! Yay! Congrats Holly & Andre!!!!

During Andrea’s and Perry‘s engagement session, Lauren and I got to sit in the O’s dugout!! Lauren has been such a huge help this year you all will definitely be seeing more of her!!

I also attended the DC NACE (National Association of Caterers and Events) meeting at Gallery O on H! It was pretty cool getting to know new faces from the DC chapter and network with local vendors!
